I teach two online courses for Penn State's Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies (CAMS).
I have taught CAMS 045 (Classical Myth) online since its web-birth during the summer of 2001. It has undergone various face-lifts and overhauls, but it has remained a popular course with extremely low attrition (most semesters as low as 0%).
Following the success of CAMS 045 online, CAMS asked me to develop a web version of CAMS 025 (Greek Civilization). This class has been running wonderfully since Fall 2007. Both of these classes typically fill up within a few hours of the Registration Period, and there is always a waiting list.
I hope to develop more online classes in the future. Creating web courses is a challenging and rewarding experience. For the Classics, it is also an important part of our effort to keep the Ancient World current, alive, and relevant in the face of professionalization at the American University.
